Job summary

Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park & Recreation District is seeking a part-time Recreation Instructor to plan, teach, and lead classes and related activities starting January 2027. You will create lesson plans, supervise sessions, and ensure a safe, engaging environment for participants.

The role requires age 18+, significant experience, CPR/AED and First Aid certification, and the ability to pass a background check.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in related activity.
• Current CPR, AED and First Aid certification.
• Must pass criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and facilitate recreation programs/classes/workshops.
• Establish and communicate expected conduct to ensure a safe learning environment.
• Explain rules and instruct participants at various skill levels.
• Modify activities to suit specific groups.
• Administer basic first aid if needed.
• Organize and set up tools and equipment used in activities.
• Teach activity participants per lesson plans.
• Maintain safety and supervision of staff and participants.
• Attend in-service trainings as required.
