POSITION SUMMARY:

The Direct Support Professional - Recreation is responsible for supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities at recreational activities in the community and/or at the agency building. Work requires flexibility as hours/time schedule can vary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Participate, collaborate and/or implement The Arc of Chester County’s 5-year Strategic Plan.
• Complete all training and qualifications requirements.
• Provide instruction/support to assist program participants in the acquisition and retention of skills in the recreation program to promote socialization and independence.
• Assistparticipants to access community resources.
• Provide transportation, when needed, tofacilitateservices in the community.
• Support participants with communication, dietary, and safety needs during recreation community outings and during the agency recreation events.
• Complete and submit required documentation in a timely manner, including but not limited to, incident reports, time and attendance records, and mileage expenses.
• Notify supervisor immediately of incidents, and other urgent matters.
• Accepts reassignment of recreation schedule when needed.
• Conduct fire drills with participants at the building on a quarterly basis.
• Check Arc email and office mailbox regularly and respond when appropriate.
• Comply with all agency policies, plans, procedures, program requirements, funder regulations, and laws.
• Participate in Arc sponsored events.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
• Ability to work independently, to set priorities and follow through on agency policies and procedures.
• Creativity and energy!
