Job summary

The Arc of Chester County is hiring a Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in community and home settings. This part-time, non-exempt role supports participants with daily living, health, and community activities while following the Individual Support Plan.

Flexible first-shift openings are available in Chester County; experience in a nonprofit setting is helpful.

Qualifications

• Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and writing skills required.
• Current and valid driver's license and acceptable driving record as per The Arc's Safety Policies and Procedures.
• Ability to work independently, to set priorities and follow through on agency policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Participate in planning and implement ISP goals for participants.
• Provide transportation to community resources and appointments.
• Complete and submit required documentation timely (notes, forms, incident reports, timekeeping).
• Communicate regularly with participants, families, and staff; attend meetings as required.

$17.50 - $20.00/hr.

Supports are needed in Downingtown, Exton, Phoenixville, Kennett Square and the surrounding areas. ALL WORK IS IN CHESTER COUNTY.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Direct Support Professional is responsible for supporting program participants in the community and/or the participant’s home following the goals listed in their Individual Support Plan. Work requires flexibility as workassignments and hours/time vary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Participate, collaborate and/or implement The Arc of Chester County’s 5-year Strategic Plan.
• Complete all training and qualifications requirements.
• Implement the Individual Support Plan(ISP)for participants, including,but not limitedto supporting theparticipantwith their behavioral, health, communication,activities of daily living, supervision, and safety needs as wellas supporting them to meet their outcomesthrough direct instruction/supportwithin the frequency, duration, and amount of service specified.
• Provide transportation to help participants access community resources including shopping, medical appointments, visiting their family/friends, participation in community outings, and exercise activities.
• Complete andsubmitrequired documentationin a timely manner, including but not limited to, service notes, medical/dental forms for the individual, incident reports,time and attendance records, andmileage expenses.Assistprogram director with the development of progress reports as requested.
• Assistin the assessment of needsand development of outcomesand outcome action plansfor program participants.
• Check Arc email and office mailbox regularly and respond whenappropriate.
• Notifysupervisorimmediatelyof changes totheparticipant’sschedule, incidents,and other urgent matters.Accepts reassignment when needed.
• Conductfire drills andchecksmoke detectorsin accordance withthe agency Emergency Plan and program procedures.Document all tests/checksasrequired.
• Communicate regularly and work cooperatively with program participants, families, team members, service providers,and supervisors.
• Participate inteammeetingsand committee meetingsasrequired.
• Comply withallagency policies,plans,andprocedures, program requirements, funder regulations, and laws.
• Participate in Arc sponsored events.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)If providing an enhanced waiver service,mustmeet those specific qualifications.
