Job summary

The City of Fort Lauderdale is seeking a part-time Recreation Aide to organize and lead a variety of indoor and outdoor activities. The role supports staff, supervises program operations, and may instruct art, dance, sports, fitness, water aerobics, and other activities.

Occasional weekend, night, and holiday shifts may be required in a dynamic community setting. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 18+ years old, and relevant certifications such as CPR for Professional Rescuer and

Qualifications

High school or G.E.D. required.
Must be 18 years old or older.
CPR for Professional Rescuer and First Aid certifications preferred or required.
WSI or USA Swimming Coach certification preferred for aquatic work.
Experience supervising and leading recreation programs is a plus.

Responsibilities

Helps in maintaining order and enforcing rules and regulations at recreational facilities.
Assists in maintaining safety and health standards at facilities and during programs.
Sets up and breakdowns of facilities, programs and events.
Instructs adult programs such as art, dance, sports, fitness, etc.
May serve as a water aerobics instructor or as a sports official/coach.
Supports Recreation Program Coordinator and tracks daily attendance for activities.
