Job summary

Dallas College is seeking a part-time Work Study Tutor to provide literacy support to students on site. The role involves one-on-one and small-group tutoring in reading and comprehension, assisting with homework, and promoting a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities include maintaining progress records and coordinating with site staff. Some positions may move to a hybrid schedule after six months, contingent on policy and needs.

Qualifications

• Must be an enrolled undergraduate student eligible for Federal Work-Study funding.
• Must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress standards.
• Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours (half-time) during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen.
• No outstanding balances or registration blocks.
• Must have reliable transportation to off-campus worksites (if applicable).
• Completion of required Dallas College professional development training.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring to students in reading, phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension.
• Assist students with homework assignments related to literacy.
• Engage students in reading activities, games, and discussions to make learning enjoyable.
• Support the classroom teacher or program staff in creating a positive learning environment.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and tutoring sessions.
• Communicate regularly with the site supervisor regarding student needs and progress.
• Adhere to all site-specific policies, procedures, and confidentiality guidelines.
• Participate in required training sessions related to literacy instruction and child development.
• Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
