Job summary

Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA, is seeking a part-time Public Safety Officer to join the Security & Public Safety team. You will patrol the gardens by foot, bike, or golf cart, respond to emergencies, and document incidents while maintaining a welcoming environment for visitors and staff.

The ideal candidate has a valid driver’s license, strong writing skills, and a background in security or related fields. Availability year-round, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, is required.

Qualifications

• A valid driver’s license is required.
• First aid/CPR/AED experience preferred but not required.
• Law enforcement, military, or related security experience preferred.
• Ability to work indoors/outdoors in varying weather and stand/walk long periods.
• Strong writing skills for incident reports.
• Ability to operate Longwood-owned vehicles.
• Exceptional customer service and hospitality skills.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Patrolling the grounds by walking, bicycling, or using golf carts.
• Responding to emergencies and assisting visitors and staff.
• Investigating and documenting incidents.
• Opening/closing duties and traffic control.
