Part Time Professional Staff Nurse, BSN - PACU

Join UPMC as a Part Time Professional Staff Nurse, BSN - PACU.

Position Overview

ANCC Magnet Recognized UPMC Passavant is hiring a Part-Time Professional Staff Nurse for the PACU/APS Department at the McCandless Location. Prior experience in Critical Care or Emergency Department settings is required. Candidates with PACU or Peri-Op experience are strongly preferred. Salary and title depend on education and experience.

Department Details

The Peri-anesthesia Unit includes Preop, PACU, and Phase 2. The PACU focuses on recovering patients from anesthesia, emphasizing airway management.

Schedule and Call Requirements

• Work two 12-hour or two 10-hour shifts weekly.
• Preop shifts start at 5 a.m.
• PACU/Phase 2 shifts start at 7:30 a.m., staggered until 9:30 a.m. (12-hr) or 11:30 a.m. (10-hr).
• On-call duties include weekday, weekend, and holiday shifts, with details provided.

Responsibilities

• Participate in quality improvement efforts and utilize evidence-based practices.
• Apply the nursing process within Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with colleagues, patients, and families.
• Engage in professional development and support team goals.
• Provide patient and family education, supporting transitions of care.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience; ICU/ED/PACU experience preferred.
• Ability to establish positive relationships and handle complex environments.
• Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and physical stamina.

Licensure and Certifications

• Current RN licensure in the state or a multistate license.
• CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.
• PALS/ACLS certifications required within 6 months.
