Job summary

US Mobile is seeking an Associate Counsel, Privacy & Cybersecurity, to serve as the day-to-day legal resource for privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity across the company. This part-time role (~24 hours/week) is well suited for an attorney seeking meaningful, high-impact work with a flexible schedule in NYC.

You’ll work with Security, Engineering, and Customer Experience teams to keep privacy practices sound, review contracts, and help with policy updates in a fast-moving startup

Qualifications

• J.D. and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, in good standing.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
• 4-6 years of relevant legal experience, with privacy, data protection, or cybersecurity exposure.
• Working knowledge of U.S. data privacy and telecom regulatory frameworks (e.g., CCPA/CPRA, FCC/CPNI, TCPA).
• Experience reviewing or negotiating commercial/technology contracts with data protection terms.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-moving startup environment.
• Clear, practical written and verbal communication with non-lawyers.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a day-to-day legal resource for privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity questions.
• Maintain privacy policies, data governance docs, and internal security policies.
• Track changes in U.S. telecom and privacy regulations affecting US Mobile.
• Support incident response and draft breach notifications when needed.
• Review and negotiate privacy/security terms in vendor and partner contracts.
• Assess products and vendor tools from a data privacy/security perspective (AI/cloud).
• Collaborate with GC and outside counsel on cybersecurity/regulatory matters.
• Create practical training materials for non-legal teams.
