Job summary

US Mobile in New York City seeks an Associate Counsel, Privacy & Cybersecurity, to serve as the go-to legal resource on privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity across the company. Part-time, roughly 25 hours per week, with a flexible schedule.

You will collaborate with Security, Engineering, and Customer Experience teams to keep policies up to date, review vendor contracts, and advise on emerging AI and cloud tools.

Qualifications

• J.D. and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, in good standing.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 4-6 years of relevant legal experience, with privacy, data protection, or cybersecurity exposure.
• Working knowledge of U.S. data privacy and telecom regulatory frameworks (CCPA/CPRA, FCC/CPNI, TCPA, breach notification).
• Experience reviewing or negotiating commercial or technology contracts involving data protection or security terms.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-moving startup environment.
• Clear, practical written and verbal communication to explain legal risk to non‑lawyers.
• Genuine curiosity about technology, telecom, and practical security/privacy issues.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a day‑to‑day legal resource for privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity questions for Security and IT teams.
• Help maintain and improve privacy policies, data governance documentation, and internal security policies.
• Track changes in U.S. telecom and privacy regulations that affect US Mobile.
• Support incident response: assess, document, and respond to security incidents, including breach notifications.
• Review and negotiate privacy and security terms in vendor, technology, and partner contracts.
• Assist with legal review of new products and tools from a privacy/security standpoint, including AI and cloud tools.
• Partner with General Counsel and outside counsel on larger cybersecurity or regulatory matters.
• Help build training materials to help non-legal teams understand privacy obligations.
