Job summary

Hawthorne Health is seeking a Principal Investigator (MD) for a 1099, part-time role to lead clinical investigations at our new McAllen, TX site. The PI will conduct remote oversight (3–5 hours/week) and be on-site ~1–4 times per month, within a 1.5-hour radius of the site.

The ideal candidate holds an MD with an unrestricted license, has PI experience on at least 3 sponsor-initiated trials, and is proficient in ICH-GCP and FDA regulations. Strong leadership and communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• PI experience on at least 3 sponsor-initiated clinical trials.
• MD degree from an accredited institution.
• Current, unrestricted medical license.
• Board certification in a relevant specialty preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ICH-GCP, FDA regulations, and ethical/regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Accurately document findings and contribute to trials, registries, or research protocols.
• Oversee and manage all clinical trial activities at the site.
• Lead and supervise the clinical research team and delegate duties.
• Remote review of patient assessments to ensure proper enrollment.
• Communicate with sponsors, CROs, and IRBs; manage data collection and documentation.
• Ensure investigational product accountability and site visits compliance.
• Participate in initiation visits, monitoring visits, audits, and inspections.
