POSITION SUMMARY

This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Part-Time Preschool Teacher is responsible for the direct supervision, care, and engagement of toddlers in a classroom setting. This role creates a safe and nurturing environment, fosters the social-emotional and developmental growth of young children, and models YMCA values through daily interactions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Supports the daily care and supervision of toddlers in accordance with YMCA standards.

Plans and implements developmentally appropriate classroom activities and routines.

Builds effective, authentic relationships with children and families.

Maintains a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment.

Collaborates with team members and communicates regularly with families.

Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to behavior management, safety, and child abuse prevention.

Ensures children are engaged in a nurturing and developmentally supportive environment.

Maintains daily attendance and incident reports as required.

Participates in staff meetings and ongoing trainings.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

At least 18 years of age.

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Previous child care experience required.

Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

Ability to be dependable, consistent, and organized.

Experience working with toddlers preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

Must be able to actively participate in physical activities with children.

Work is performed indoors and outdoors, including standing for long periods.

Monday–Friday, 12:00 PM–6:00 PM.

RATE OF PAY
$14.00–$14.50 per hour
