Job summary

The YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg invites applications for a Preschool Teacher Assistant at the Speer YMCA Preschool Academy. This part‑time role supports children birth to five with engaging lesson plans, while promoting social, emotional, and cognitive growth in a nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• Education: CDA or at least 6 college credits in early childhood education or related fields.
• Experience: 1–3 years with children birth–5 in early childhood settings.
• Training: MODS Introductory Child Care Training Part 1 & 2 completed.
• Knowledge: inquiry-based learning and positive behavior support preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with outcomes.
• Foster social, emotional, and cognitive development through activities.
• Create a safe, nurturing classroom and comply with licensing.
• Observe, assess, and document each child's growth.
• Build relationships with families via daily communication and conferences.
• Collaborate with the classroom team for a positive learning experience.
• Maintain organization, cleanliness, and safety standards.
