The City of Lake Forest is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Preschool Aide for Kinderhaven Preschool Academy, part of the Lake Forest Parks & Recreation Department. This role supports early childhood learning in a safe, nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with children, preferably preschool-aged.
• Basic understanding of child development and age-appropriate practices.
• Team-oriented with strong leadership and independent work skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Understanding of the Reggio Emilia approach is a plus.
• Willingness to work additional hours as needed.
• Commitment to continuing education and professional growth.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must pass a DCFS background check.
• Knowledge of sound recreation and education philosophy.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily classroom setup and takedown.
• Maintain cleanliness through regular sanitization of high-touch surfaces and shared supplies.
• Supervise children to ensure safety and enforce classroom rules and procedures.
• Support instructors in implementing class curriculum.
• Foster a friendly, organized, and engaging classroom atmosphere.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with parents and staff.
• Serve as a positive role model and active team member.
