Job summary

Michael Foods, Inc. is seeking a part-time poultry care associate to support our laying hen operations. You will work on site to ensure proper water, feed, temperature control, and a clean environment within our houses.

Responsibilities include daily record-keeping, coordinating with coworkers, and maintaining equipment and facilities. Flexibility for weekend duties and adherence to safety and animal humane policies are required.

Qualifications

• No prior experience or training required.
• Previous experience with animal care preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, safety rules, and reports.
• Ability to write simple correspondence and keep routine records.
• Ability to stand most of shift and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work on ladders and climb steps as needed.
• Follow safety policies and animal humane procedures.

Responsibilities

• Ensure chickens have water, feed, proper temperature, and clean housing.
• Maintain daily records on water, feed, mortality, ventilation, and maintenance.
• Move birds in and out of houses and manage population counts.
• Keep feed belts, lights, and floors in safe, working order.
• Conduct mortality runs and bird runs as scheduled.
• Adhere to all safety and animal humane policies.
