Job summary

San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office is seeking part-time Student Law Clerks for Fall 2026 and later in Stockton, CA. A background check and pre-employment drug screening are required.

Applicants must have completed at least one year of law school and maintain eligibility for the position. Under supervision, Student Law Clerks will study laws and precedents, assist in drafting briefs and opinions, perform research, and support attorneys with case preparation.

Qualifications

• Knowledge: legal research methods, briefs and opinions, and application of law.
• Ability: analyze and apply legal principles, facts, evidence, and precedence; present statements of law, facts, and argument; research and prepare opinions; maintain relationships.

Responsibilities

• Study and interpret laws, court decisions, and authorities for case preparation.
• Assist attorneys in drafting deeds, contracts, pleadings, resolutions, and opinions.
• Confer on gathering facts; investigate facts for pending litigation.
• Assist in preparing correspondence and reports.
