Job summary

The City of Savage is hiring an entry-level, non-sworn, part-time uniformed position within the Police Department. The role totals 29 hours per week and supports both sworn and civilian staff with a variety of duties.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be currently enrolled at an accredited college, university or technical school pursuing a degree in law enforcement, criminal justice or a closely related field.
• Must possess a valid and unrestricted driver's license.
• Must be able to pass a thorough background investigation, physical examination, and psychological evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Assist sworn and civilian Police Department staff as assigned.
• Maintain effective community relations and represent the City with the community.
• Deliver and retrieve packages, evidence, forfeited items, court documents and other items as assigned.
• Investigate non-crime ordinance violations.
• Assist with minor traffic matters, including assisting motorists, and monitoring traffic law compliance in assigned areas.
• Perform support tasks including filing, data entry, data retrieval, telephone answering, and other duties as assigned.
• Maintain confidentiality of law enforcement data.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Enrolled in college/university/technical school pursuing a degree in law enforcement or criminal justice

Valid driver's license
