The Park Slope Armory YMCA in Brooklyn is seeking a part-time Pickleball Instructor to promote sport enjoyment and skill development for children and teens. You will create progressive lesson plans, supervise participants, and ensure safety and equipment checks while embodying YMCA values.

Responsibilities include teamwork, teaching fundamentals, communicating with parents, and supporting program promotion. Join a supportive team focused on youth development and physical activity.

Competenze

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience teaching pickleball to children/teens in a structured setting.
• Knowledge of youth development stages.
• Content expert in designated sports activity.
• Ability to communicate effectively with members of all ages.
• Current First Aid or CPR certifications.
• Must attend YMCA Coaching 101 Training within 90 days of employment.
• Must receive the CDC HEADS UP Concussion in Youth Sports certificate within 30 days of employment.

Mansioni

• Develop program objectives and goals for each session with the Supervisor.
• Create a written age-appropriate, progressive lesson plan for each session.
• Provide supervision of participants per YMCA standards (ratio, attendance).
• Modify lesson plans to meet participant needs.
• Emphasize teamwork and sportsmanship.
• Teach rules and fundamentals and enhance basic skills.
• Communicate progress to parents/guardians and about next sessions.
• Inform parents about additional YMCA opportunities benefiting their child/teen.
• Ensure equipment is safe, age-appropriate, and in good condition (monthly checks).
• Lead program promotion and recruitment with Supervisor.
• Direct volunteers or Sports Assistants when applicable.
• Know branch emergency procedures and respond appropriately in emergencies.
• Keep the program space clean during activities.
• Inform the Manager on Duty about incident reports.
• Participate in meetings, trainings, and special events.
