Job summary

The Juilliard School in New York City is seeking a part-time piano technician to tune and service pianos across practice rooms, studios, classrooms, and venues. Hours are 6:00 am to 10:00 am, five days a week, with occasional evenings and weekends as assigned, reporting to the Chief Piano Technician.

The role involves maintaining 270+ pianos on campus, supporting performances, and ensuring instruments are in peak condition for departments in Music, Dance, and Drama.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent required.
• 3 years of experience as piano technician.
• Strong tuning and action regulation skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with computer applications including Excel.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Collaborative team player with initiative and reliability.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Tune pianos
• Regulate actions and damper systems
• Clean, lubricate, and maintain pianos and benches
• Repair actions, keys, dampers, and pedals
• Repair piano hardware and case damage
• Participate in piano moving 3-6 hours per month
• Keep track of all performed work
