Job summary

Millersville University is seeking temporary, part-time instructors to teach undergraduate physics courses (lecture and/or lab) on campus or online as needed. The postings aim to build a pool of qualified faculty for assigned sections and future enrollments.

Responsibilities include course preparation, delivering instruction, assessing student learning, grading, and maintaining office hours. Employment is contingent on enrollment and may require evenings or weekends.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Physics or closely related discipline.
• Ability to teach undergraduate physics lecture and/or laboratory courses; familiarity with instructional lab equipment and safe practices; ability to use LMS and instructional technology as needed.
• Evidence of ability to successfully teach diverse student populations.
• Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
• Commitment to inclusive teaching practices and working with diverse student populations.
• Successful interview.
• Successful teaching demonstration for classroom assignments.
• Successful completion of three background checks.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned undergraduate physics course(s) (lecture and/or lab) as scheduled.
• Prepare and deliver instruction; assess student learning; hold office hours; submit grades.
• Course preparation, assessment, grading, and student support.
• Maintain prorated office hours weekly to match workload.
• Contribute to scholarship and service commensurate with assignment.
• Other duties assigned within the field of competence.
