Job summary

MedMark Treatment Centers is seeking a part-time physician in Dothan, AL to provide medically supervised methadone and buprenorphine treatment. You will admit patients, perform histories and exams, document in the EMR, and coordinate dosing with the treatment center team.

The role requires an Alabama license; board certification or eligibility in Addiction Medicine is preferred. Experience with MAT is advantageous, and you may supervise PAs and NPs.

Qualifications

• Boarded Certified or Eligible in Addiction Medicine or any residency.
• Must be licensed in the State of Alabama.
• Knowledge of Medication Assisted Treatment is preferred.
• Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
• Must be able to interact compassionately with a diverse population.

Responsibilities

• Admitting patients for methadone and buprenorphine treatment.
• Cover absences for Medical Director during vacations and meetings.
• Obtain a history and physical exam.
• Documentation into the EMR; entering orders for methadone dosing or buprenorphine prescriptions.
• Monitor patient dosages with the team.
• Consult on high-risk patients and perform annual medication reviews.
• Willing to supervise Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners.
• Other related duties as determined by supervisor.

*Primary Job Function*

• Admitting Patients for Methadone and Buprenorphine Treatment.
• Applicant must be able to cover absences for the Medical Director during vacations, attendance at addiction meetings, and personal absences.
• Physician will obtain a history and physical exam.
• Documentation into the EMR, entering orders for methadone dosing in the EMR or writing a buprenorphine prescription.
• Consistently monitoring patient dosages in conjunction with the Treatment Center Director, Counselors and Dosing Nurses.
• Consulting on patients that are high risk and doing annual medication reviews.
• Willing to supervise Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners
• Other related duties as determined by supervisor
