Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago, IL is seeking a part-time Phlebotomy Technician for the day shift (4am-12:30pm) in the Clinical Lab. The role includes collecting blood samples from newborns to geriatrics under supervision, with data entry and clerical duties as needed.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, formal phlebotomy training, and phlebotomy certification, plus BLS within 45 days. One year of clinical lab experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a formal phlebotomy training program or equivalent on-the-job training with documented competency.
• Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician is required.
• BLS certification within forty-five days of hire and maintained current.
• Minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform skin puncture or venipuncture on patients of all ages for blood samples.
• Handle computer data entry, filing, and clerical duties as assigned.
• Demonstrate proper phlebotomy technique and use of equipment.
• Collect specimens across microbiology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry and blood bank.
• Process specimens for referral to reference laboratories and load onto analyzers.
• Stock and order routine supplies and maintain clean storage areas and equipment.
• Assist with sample pickup, sorting for analysis, and related duties as needed.
• Support multiple departments or night shift/graveyard shifts as required.
• May be delegated as Phlebotomy Lead by department leadership.
• Adhere to department policies and assist with miscellaneous tasks as assigned.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Formal phlebotomy training program

Phlebotomy Technician certification

BLS certification within 45 days of hire

Minimum 1 year clinical laboratory experience (preferred)
