Job summary

Cherokee Indian Hospital is seeking a part-time Phlebotomist with Benefits to collect blood and urine samples from pediatric and adult patients for laboratory testing. The role includes obtaining specimens from outside locations as needed, handling waivers, and ensuring accurate labeling and documentation.

Candidate must complete a phlebotomy program and obtain (or commit to obtain within 12 months) ASCP or equivalent certification. Experience with CAP/JCAHO accreditation processes is a plus.

Qualifications

• Requires completion of a phlebotomy program and certification within 12 months if not already certified.
• Demonstrates knowledge of phlebotomy procedures and patient identification.
• Maintains confidentiality and adheres to safety and infection control policies.

Responsibilities

• Collects blood and urine samples from pediatric and adult patients.
• Performs waived testing procedures as required.
• Maintains phlebotomy log sheets and workload reports.
• Ensures accurate labeling and proper transport of specimens.
• Maintains clean, organized phlebotomy areas and complies with CAP/JCAHO standards.
