Job summary

The Ohio State University is seeking a Phlebotomist IRP – Outpatient Customer Service to join the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. The role provides primary support to the Stefanie Spielman Breast Cancer Center Outpatient Services, with secondary support to other laboratory locations as needed.

Responsibilities include venipuncture, specimen processing, and patient registration support. The position is intermittent with first-shift hours and a focus on accurate specimen

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant certification is preferred but not required.
• Demonstrates competence in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture for specimen collection.
• Label and process specimens, dispatch to testing locations.
• Enter test requisitions and gather patient demographics for registration and accessioning.
• Greet and direct patients through the laboratory workflow.
• May perform point-of-care testing and maintain QC procedures.
