Job summary

Ohio State University is seeking a Phlebotomist- Outpatient to collect specimens at multiple outpatient service centers around Greater Columbus. The PST will greet patients, collect specimens via venipuncture and capillary puncture, label and process samples, and assist with pre-test workflows and registrations.

The role may include point-of-care testing and requires adherence to quality control and chain-of-custody procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant certification preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary specimen collection.
• Label and process specimens; dispatch to testing locations.
• Gather complete patient information for registration and accessioning.
• May perform point-of-care testing and ensure QC by maintaining equipment.
• Follow chain of custody for pre-employment urine drug screens.
