Job summary

NC Community Colleges is seeking a Part-time Adjunct Instructor in Humanities/Philosophy at the Main Campus. The role involves teaching both online and traditional courses and supporting departmental activities under limited supervision.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree (or MA) in philosophy/humanities with ample teaching experience, preferably in community college settings and online formats. This position reports to the Department Chair, English, Humanities, and University Transfer.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in philosophy/humanities or MA with 18 graduate hours in philosophy/humanities or related field and two years of teaching experience in humanities/philosophy.
• Preference for community college teaching experience and online teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Instructs students in Humanities/Philosophy classes and performs related administrative and recordkeeping duties.
• Teaches assigned day, evening, and online courses in college transfer humanities/philosophy; uses technology to enhance instruction.
• Keeps abreast of newest research and advances related to teaching humanities/philosophy by reading journals or attending seminars.
• Maintains good working relationships within the Department and campus; responds to inquiries and performs other duties as required.
