Job summary

Virginia Peninsula Community College seeks an Adjunct Faculty member to teach Humanities. The role involves teaching up to 12 credit hours in fall/spring and up to 8 during summer, with classes potentially scheduled day, evening, or weekend.

The successful candidate will design and deliver instruction, assess students, maintain on-campus presence, and communicate promptly with students and staff. A Master’s in Humanities and a student-centered approach are required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Humanities or related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Humanities from a regionally accredited institution.
• Demonstrates passion for the discipline and a student-centered philosophy.
• Excellent interpersonal skills in communication with students, colleagues, staff and administrators.
• Willingness to serve traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to modify instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs.
• Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning.
• Adopt methods that measure student progress toward outcomes.
• Evaluate student performance fairly and promptly and provide timely feedback.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and submit final grade rosters according to deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
