Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Part-Time Pharmacist - Brooklyn.

In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for safely preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications to patients in accordance with laws and regulations governed by the NYS Board of Pharmacy and Lutheran Medical Center pharmacy policies and procedures.
The pharmacist will optimize drug therapy by identifying, resolving, and preventing drug-related problems to improve therapeutic outcomes.
Work independently within established pharmacy policies and procedures as part of the inpatient care team.
Direct and coordinate activities in a pharmacy service area.
Supervise staff and support personnel within pharmacy policies, procedures, and regulations.
Assignments include covering satellite pharmacy, preparing IV products, distributing controlled substances, and providing drug information.
All pharmacists should be knowledgeable about the safe management and handling of hazardous medications stored and dispensed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Pharmacoeconomics: Ensure medication therapies are cost-effective and safe.
  • Narcotic Management: Distribute and maintain controlled substances, restock, destock, and manage inventory in ADCs, and ensure proper record-keeping and security of narcotics.
  • Clinical Support: Complete assignments under clinical staff, participate in rounds, patient education, and training of healthcare professionals.
  • Order Checking & Verification: Cover pharmacy staffing, verify TPN orders, check emergency supplies, and ensure accuracy and sterility of compounded products per USP 797 standards.
  • Clinical Care: Provide care based on patient-specific needs, interpret physician orders, monitor drug therapy, report adverse events, and supervise staff and technicians.
  • Cultural Competence & Compliance: Provide equitable care, respect privacy, ensure regulatory compliance, and handle pharmaceutical waste safely.
  • Distributive Functions: Ensure timely medication dispensing, maintain security, and communicate shortages.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctorate of Pharmacy from an accredited institution. Must be licensed in NY, in good standing. Board Certification is highly desirable. Completion of safety, OSHA, infection control, and other mandatory training. Active NY pharmacy license required.

Required Licenses: Pharmacist License-NYS
