Job summary

Avanta Care Home Care - Atlanta is seeking a compassionate Personal Support Specialist (PSS) for part-time in-home care. You will assist clients with daily living activities, provide companionship, and help maintain independence in their homes.

You will also support with light housekeeping, meal preparation, and medication reminders where allowed by state regulations, while adhering to care plans and safety protocols. Strong communication and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification as a Personal Support Specialist (PSS) or willingness to complete approved training.
• Experience in home care or related field preferred but not required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle physical aspects of the job (lifting, bending).
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license (if travel is required).
• Must pass background checks and state-required screenings.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with ADLs such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility
• Perform light housekeeping including meal prep, laundry, and tidying living spaces
• Provide companionship and emotional support
• Assist with medication reminders (as allowed by state regulations)
• Monitor and report changes in client condition or behavior
• Follow care plans and document daily activities accurately
• Adhere to safety protocols and infection control procedures
