Job summary

Shriners Children's is seeking a part-time Physician Assistant to join our pediatric orthopedic team in an outpatient setting. The role is 0.6 FTE (three days per week), with hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and no nights, weekends, or holidays.

The selected candidate participates in a shared after-hours call from home via an answering service. The PA will independently manage orthopedic patients, perform casting and fracture care, and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and staff to provide

Qualifications

• Master of Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
• Current, unrestricted Physician Assistant license in the state of practice.
• Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Must possess eligibility for active DEA.
• BLS for HealthCare Providers; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required based on clinical assignment.
• Credentialing and privileging by the medical staff in accordance with hospital bylaws.
• Strong pediatric assessment and clinical decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with patients, families, and care teams.
• Proficient in EHR systems and clinical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive health assessments, histories, and physical exams.
• Formulate differential diagnoses and care plans with supervising physicians.
• Manage care for orthopedic, spinal, and neuromuscular patients.
• Provide pre- and post-operative evaluations in various settings.
• Order and interpret diagnostic imaging and labs as permitted by licensure.
• Perform procedures and assist in orthopedic surgeries as needed.
• Prescribe medications within scope of practice and policies.
• Participate in multidisciplinary clinics and care conferences.
