La Casa de las Madres is seeking a Payroll and Accounting Assistant to support day-to-day payroll and accounting operations. The role ensures accurate processing of compensation and financial transactions while complying with nonprofit GAAP and grant requirements.

The team emphasizes confidentiality, accuracy, and collaboration with the Finance and Administration Manager to maintain records and support audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; or 2 years payroll processing experience
• In-depth understanding of GAAP for nonprofits; understanding of financial statement prep and analysis
• Strong communication and professional interaction skills across levels
• Experience driving corporate accounting processes including cash management, AR/AP, month-end close, payroll, and benefits
• Proficiency with Sage and QuickBooks and ADP timekeeping systems
• Excellent Excel skills and ability to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines

Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly payroll including timecard data entry, wages, overtime and deductions
• Collaborate with management to ensure timecards are accurate before payroll close
• Maintain employee payroll records and confidentiality
• Resolve payroll issues and ensure accurate payroll figures
• Assist with vendor invoices entry, client invoices, and payments
• Support month-end and year-end close activities
• Maintain organized records for audits and compliance
