Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a Part Time Patient Registration Representative to perform inpatient and outpatient registrations in the Heart Center. You will obtain patient identification, demographics and financial information to secure the encounter and handle POS collections when required, while maintaining a strong focus on patient service and a professional image.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED.

Responsibilities

• Must perform professional, clinical and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
• Monitor daily schedule for patients arriving at the department.
• Admit/register scheduled and non-scheduled or emergent patients for the department.
• Conduct bedside admissions for direct admits as needed.
• Obtain patient identification and insurance information; enter accurate data into the computer system.
• Greet patients and relatives; interview and collect pertinent information.
• Collect co-payments or deposits as appropriate.
• Balance cash drawer as part of the end of day process.
• Explain policies; obtain signatures on consent and insurance forms; document accurately.
• Comply with Medicare/Medicaid and other insurance rules.
• Complete MSPQ as required for admission.
• Attend staff trainings and contribute to knowledge.
• Inventory and release patient valuables per department policy.
• Provide coverage in all areas of Admitting as needed.
• Knowledge of administrative policies, department procedures and third party coverage.
• Other duties or projects as assigned by Management.
