ANCC Magnet designated UPMC Passavant is currently hiring a Part-Time Patient Care Technician to support our Med/Surg Oncology Unit at the McCandless location.

The Patient Care Technicianis a valued step in the UPMC Inpatient Patient Care Support Career Ladder, with opportunities for continued growth and advancement. Title and salary will be determined based upon education and patient care experience.

Our Part-Time Patient Care technicianstypically work two 12 hour shiftseach week to cover daylight, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts. Hours may vary by unit. Candidates with prior patient care experience are highly preferred and encouraged to apply.

**Hired candidates will be required to attend orientation (classroom-based and unit-based) at Passavant prior to beginning in this role.

Responsibilities:

·Contributes to the universal unit activities including, but not limited to:

oresponding to call lights and telephones

opassing meal trays and transporting patients.

·Must routinely perform the UPMC core nursing assistant responsibilities including:

oADLs (bathing, feeding, transporting, toileting, ambulating, turning and repositioning patients

oPoint of care testing (inc. blood glucose)

oWeights & vital signs

oI&O

oTelemetry monitor application/reapplication

oHAC & PSI prevention (TEDs/SCDs)

oSimple dressings

oPlacement and removal of restraints

o12 lead EKG

oBladder scan

oAll specimen collections

oIV catheter removal and Foley catheter removal

·Demonstrates the following:

·Strictly adheres to all policies and procedures relative to patient care and hospital related information.

·Complies with safety policies and procedures including standard precautions.

·Documents in the medical record according to established procedures.

·Performs assigned work in a timely and productive manner.

·Transports cardiac monitored patients within the hospital setting.

·Completes department clerical functions as needed.

·Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.

·Performs other duties as assigned.
