Job summary

Boys Town Lincoln Clinic is seeking a Part-Time Patient Access Specialist to greet and register patients, collect demographics and eligibility data, and coordinate pre-authorization steps. The role involves handling calls for scheduling, registrations, and financial counseling in a busy clinic environment.

Responsibilities include ensuring accurate benefit information, collecting co-pays, and guiding patients through the admissions and authorization process.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 120 days of hire.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a clinic/hospital setting preferred.
• Knowledge of Explanation of Benefits (EOB) preferred.
• Excellent verbal/written communication with physicians, patients and families.

Responsibilities

• Provides excellent customer service to individuals presenting for clinic care, admissions or direction.
• Maintains communication and rapport with all contacts, documenting discussions in applicable systems.
• Obtains and communicates accurate benefit information and eligibility, including pre-determination/pre-authorization.
• Verifies demographics and follows established protocols for data collection.
• Coordinates bed assignment/resource availability with Medical Unit Manager/Director.
• Notifies arrival of surgical patients and provides transport assistance as needed.
• Monitors waiting areas, ensuring a clean, safe environment.
• Handles incoming calls for scheduling, pre-registration, nurse calls, refills, referrals, and financial counseling.
• Assists in coordinating interpretive services as needed.
• Opens/closes clinic locations and manages security systems.
• Collects co-payments and processes payments; prepares daily deposits.
• Communicates about scheduling, authorization, and financial issues; assists with Financial Assistance referrals.
• Confirms guardianship status and collects required consents.
