Job summary

Mount Carmel is seeking a Part-time Patient Financial Specialist I to support outpatient and emergency department operations. The role involves registering patients, verifying insurance, and collecting payments while ensuring compliance with third-party requirements.

The position will float across hospital departments, including the main and emergency rooms, and is based at 4105 Emerald Pkwy, Dublin, OH 43016. Experience with EPIC and a solid understanding of CPT/ICD-9 coding are preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree preferred in Healthcare Administration or related field; high school diploma required if experience proves otherwise.
• Minimum three years of experience in a physician’s office, clinic, or hospital business office dealing with data and funds.

Responsibilities

• Register patients.
• Verify insurance.
• Communicate with patients.
• Perform soft collection during registration.
• Use EPIC for data entry and workflow.
• Understand Medicare/Medicaid requirements and third-party payor rules.
• Explain CPT/ICD-9 coding and reimbursement methodologies to relevant staff.
