Job summary

Mankato Motors in Minnesota is seeking a Part Time Parts Counterperson to join our growing auto parts team. This role focuses on assisting customers, processing parts orders, and coordinating with service staff to ensure accurate parts fulfilment.

Hours are Monday through Thursday 12-6 and one Saturday a month 8-12. Prior parts experience is preferred but not required, and a positive, customer‑oriented attitude is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in auto parts sales preferred.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the parts sales process from start to finish.
• Communicate with customer on parts status.
• Communicate with staff and customers in a friendly and professional manner.
• Read and understand the parts catalog when looking up parts.
• Answer phone calls, provide price quotes and other information.
• Provide high level service to internal and external customers.
• Pull and fill orders from stock.
• Maintain weekly bin checks to ensure stock accuracy.
• Notify parts manager of out-of-stock parts or urgent needs.
• Locate out-of-stock parts and submit emergency orders if necessary.
• Ensure internal requests for parts are billed on service repair orders.
• Receive payment from retail customers or obtain credit authorization.
