Job summary

The City of Elgin is seeking a Patrol/Parking Enforcement role to monitor designated areas, issue tickets for parking violations, and provide information to residents. responsibilities include assisting the public with street directions and regulations, and serving as a relief crossing guard as needed.

• Must have working knowledge of the geography of the city and locations of various private and public facilities and the location of streets
• Must have knowledge of traffic and parking ordinances and laws
• Must have elementary knowledge of simple mathematics
• Must be able to deal tactfully and courteously with the public
• Must be in physical condition to be able to work outdoors under varying weather conditions
• Must be able to prepare and maintain simple records
• Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Must be able to maintain effective working relationships with staff, fellow workers, and the general public
