Job summary

Southwest Local School District is seeking a Part-Time Paraprofessional I to provide instructional, personal care, and health-related support to students with disabilities. You will help implement IEP goals, collaborate with teachers and nurses, and assist with daily living activities in a supportive classroom environment.

The role requires a high school diploma, STNA/CNA certification, and an Educational Aide Permit or equivalent credential, with CPR/First Aid preferred.

Qualifications

• Current State Tested Nurse Aide (STNA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required.
• Valid Educational Aide Permit or other credential issued by the Ohio State Board of Education, or ability to obtain.

• Successful completion of district-required training related to student-specific health, safety, behavioral, mobility, and personal care needs.

Responsibilities

• Provides individualized instructional, behavioral, personal care, and health-related support to students as outlined in their IEPs, health plans, care plans, and other applicable student plans.
• Collaborates with teachers, intervention specialists, school nurses, therapists, and other personnel to implement student goals and procedures.
• Observes and documents student performance, behavior, health-related information, and progress as directed by school personnel.
• Assists with activities of daily living (toileting, feeding, dressing, hygiene, mobility).
• Implements health-related or delegated care procedures with proper training.
• Monitors changes in student condition and communicates concerns to appropriate staff.
• Supports students during transitions, transportation, and arrival/dismissal.
• Assists students in accessing and participating in classes and activities.
• Accompanies students on field trips and work-study activities.
• Maintains confidential student records and documentation.

Pay Rate: $17.10/hour (via stretch pay)
Hours: 15 hours/week (8:30am - 11:30am - Monday - Friday)

We are seeking Part-Time Paraprofessional I team member at the Southwest Early Childhood Learning Center.
Job Summary: The Paraprofessional I provides instructional, personal care, and health-related support to students with disabilities to promote their safety, independence, and successful participation in the educational environment while supporting the implementation of their IEP goals and objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides individualized instructional, behavioral, personal care, and health-related support to students as outlined in their IEPs, health plans, care plans, and other applicable student plans.
• Collaborates with teachers, intervention specialists, school nurses, therapists, and other appropriate personnel to implement student goals, accommodations, supports, and prescribed procedures.
• Observes and documents student performance, behavior, health-related information, and progress as directed by appropriate school personnel.
• Assists with activities of daily living, including toileting, feeding, dressing, hygiene, positioning, transfers, and mobility, based on individual student needs.
• Provides health-related or delegated care procedures for which the employee has received appropriate training and authorization, consistent with applicable law, district procedures, and individual student care plans.
• Observes students for changes in physical condition, behavior, or functioning and promptly communicates concerns to the school nurse, teacher, administrator, or other designated personnel.
• Assists students with the use of adaptive equipment, mobility devices, positioning equipment, and other specialized supports as trained and directed.
• Supports students during transitions, transportation, arrival and dismissal, including boarding and unloading from school transportation as needed.
• Assists students in accessing and participating in academic classes, Art, Music, Physical Education, electives, and other school activities.
• Accompanies and supports students during field trips, community-based instruction, vocational experiences, and work-study activities.
• Implements instructional activities, accommodations, modifications, and reinforcement strategies under the direction of the classroom teacher or intervention specialist.
• Supports the implementation of student behavior plans and utilizes approved de-escalation and safety procedures as trained.
• Monitors students across educational settings to maintain a safe, supportive, and appropriate learning environment.
• Responds appropriately to student medical, behavioral, or other emergency situations in accordance with training, established protocols, and district procedures.
• Maintains accurate and confidential student records and documentation as required.
• Maintains student equipment and classroom materials and assists with basic clerical functions necessary to support student programming.
• Participates in required training, professional development, and in-service activities related to student care, safety, instructional support, and job responsibilities.
• Maintains all licenses, certifications, and training required for the position.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the teacher, school nurse, administrator, or other appropriate district personnel.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
