Job summary

The City of Winchester is seeking a Paramedic to respond to emergencies, operate EMS equipment, and provide care per protocols. You will assist with rescue, hazmat response, and ongoing training. The role includes maintaining equipment and supporting public safety programs.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED and at least two years of Paramedic experience, with EMT-Paramedic and multiple certifications. Valid driver’s license and ongoing wellness standards apply.

Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or GED; at least two years experience as a Paramedic.
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: EMT- Paramedic, ACLS, ITLS or PHTLS, & PALS or PEPP per VA EMS guidelines; NIMS compliance.
• Language Skills: Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• General knowledge of EMS equipment, rescue principles, and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Responds to emergency incidents.
• Operates emergency apparatus as approved and assists with rescue, hazardous materials response, and EMS care per protocol.
• Maintains and cleans fire and rescue apparatus, equipment, stations, and grounds.
• Participates in training and public safety programs; may assist with tours.
• Performs special projects and contributes to a positive work environment.
