Job summary

The Dougherty County EMS Department is hiring on a continuous basis for Part-Time Paramedics to respond to emergency calls and provide immediate care, transporting patients to medical facilities as needed. This role works under general supervision, developing work methods and sequences for timely EMS response.

Qualifications include a GA Paramedic license, BLS/ACLS certification, and a valid GA driver’s license with a suitable driving record; a high school diploma or GED is also required.

Summary

The Dougherty County EMS Department is hiring on a continuous basis for Part-Time Paramedics. The purpose of this position is to respond to emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate care to the critically ill and injured, and to transport the patient to a medical facility. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Examples of duties

• Initiates patient care.
• Assists with the proper extrication of trapped patients.
• Directs the operations of the first responders and bystanders.
• Manages control drugs on ambulance.
• Ensures that all documents are complete after each call.
• Ensures proper radio communications with dispatch, hospital and other units.
• Operates emergency vehicles.
• Decides on patient transport destination.
• Drives the ambulance in emergency situations.
• Provides professional and courteous customer service at all times to in-house staff and general public by telephone, either electronically, or face to face.
• Checks ambulance supplies and condition, and resupply at the beginning of the shift and after every call.
• Provides medical coverage for Special Events such as but not limited to ballgames, concerts, and others when requested.
• Performs related work as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must be at least 21 years old.

Supplemental information

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. Performs heavy work that involves constantly lifting, shoveling, and carrying 35 to 50 pounds on a regular and recurring basis and exerting 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis. Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment): Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken. Involves routine and frequent exposure to: Bright/dim light; Dusts and pollen. Extreme heat and/or cold; Wet or humid conditions. Extreme noise levels, Animals/wildlife. Vibration; Fumes and/or noxious odors. Traffic; Moving machinery. Electrical shock; Heights. Radiation; Disease/pathogens.

Special Certifications And Licenses:

• Must be a State of Georgia licensed Paramedic.
• Must maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.

REQUIRED AT INTERVIEW:

VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE, THREE (3) YEAR MVR DRIVING HISTORY, HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENT, CURRENT LEVEL OF TRAINING LICENSE, STATE CERTIFICATION, CURRENT CPR CARD, CURRENT ACLS, AND ANY OTHER RELATED CERTIFICATE(S) AND/OR DOCUMENT(S).
