Job summary

Ventura Unified School District is seeking a part-time Paraeducator II to support students with academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs under the supervision of teachers. Positions may be allocated across general and special education programs within the district.

Required: NCPI, First Aid, and CPR certifications; a high school diploma or equivalent plus 48 college units or CBEST, with an Associate’s degree highly desirable. Bilingual ability may be required for some roles.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or the equivalent. Requires two years of college (48 units) or pass the District’s assessment that demonstrates knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction or pass the CBEST.
• An Associate’s degree is highly desirable.
• Experience: Some experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults in an organized setting, including individuals with special developmental needs.
• NCPI (Non-violent Crisis Intervention) training and certification; First Aid and CPR certifications; certifications must be fulfilled within specified timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic, behavior and social-emotional supports to individuals or small groups to enhance learning.
• Monitor and report student progress according to state standards, classroom objectives and IEPs.
• Assist students in developing self-help skills (hygiene, toileting, eating, social, community and leisure/recreational skills).
• Provide non-intrusive medical health assistance and emergency specialized medical support.
