Job summary

Highlands Middle School in Kennewick, WA is seeking a part-time Para/FP paraeducator to work with students to improve reading, writing and math skills. The role involves direct classroom support under certificated staff supervision, adapting materials, recess supervision, and record-keeping.

Starting immediately, 2.65 hours/day, 180 days/year, with a base salary of $21.40–$24.90 per hour plus up to $0.60 extra per hour based on college credits earned.

Qualifications

• Required academic skills to assist students (knowledge in sciences, language arts, math, reading and social studies).
• Must be able to communicate in English verbally and in writing.
• Must have ability to use basic computer programs to maintain records and read/respond to email.

Responsibilities

• Assist with instruction as directed by certificated staff using developmentally appropriate activities.
• Participate in assessment activities.
• Prepare instructional materials as requested.
• Independently supervise playground and crosswalk duties as assigned.
• Maintain records and confidentiality.
• Promote safe, orderly, positive learning climate in and around the building.
