The Clothing Company is seeking an enthusiastic Team Member for a sales floor role with duties including customer service, cash handling, merchandising, cleaning, and opening/closing tasks. Responsibilities include greeting customers, maintaining displays, processing transactions, assisting with alterations and gift wrapping, and supporting team-wide housekeeping.

Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic, driven, and professional Team Member to join our group! This is a sales floor position, which also includes cash-handling, opening/closing duties, cleaning, straightening, merchandising and tidying too. The ideal candidate would be available year round and must be comfortable with the following job description:

• Customer Service. We welcome customers like guests in our home. Greeting them upon arrival, checking in on them during their visit, and making a connection with everyone who walks in the door… even if they don’t buy anything! Customer service will be the most important part of your job.
• Daily housekeeping duties. Such as backstocking and putting out new merchandise, display creation, etc. Cleaning tasks such as dusting, dust-mopping, vacuuming, and keeping a neat and tidy store. Organizing tasks like sizing, straightening, and folding. Clearing sidewalk of snow (winter) and dust/leaves (summer) and watering plants.
• General housekeeping. Such as deep cleaning, occasional wet-mopping and keeping a clean kitchen, bathroom and breakroom area (this is a group effort).
• Stocking. Because we keep a minimal amount of product out on the floor, back stocking is a daily task. Checking in and arranging new merchandise on the sales floor.
• Precise operation of cash registers and credit card machines. Cash-handling and following register procedures. Eventually closing the drawers at the end of each day.
• Gift wrapping & Alterations. Ask if the purchase is a gift. We do offer alterations from a local seamstress. It is expected you learn basic measuring: inseam, waist size, sportscoat, and dress shirt.
• Merchandising. Learning our methods, keeping displays and windows polished and full. Creating new displays on a two-week timeline. Sizing racks and piles. Checking in new merchandise.
• Physical Demands. We work as a team here, these physical demands won’t all fall on you but the ability to participate physically is important to our daily productivity.
  • Ability to be on your feet and moving around the floor throughout your shift. Paid breaks will be provided.
  • Using stairs and carrying boxes of merchandise up/downstairs.
  • Shoveling in the snow and sweeping/blowing off the sidewalk in the Spring/Summer/Fall.
  • Vacuuming, edging baseboards, and mopping Women’s Department.
  • Ability to lift at least 25 lbs.
  • Feeling comfortable on an 8-foot ladder.
• Open Availability. We are open 7 days a week (with the exception of a few holidays). In the winter our hours range from 10am-6pm or 10am-8pm, while during the summer months we are open 9:30am-9pm. You must be available to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays. As well as busy downtown events like Venetian Festival, Sidewalk Sales, Art Fair, and Applefest.
