Job summary

Inland Eye Specialists in Murrieta, CA is seeking an energetic Ophthalmic Assistant to join our clinical team on a part-time basis. You will support ophthalmologists, document examinations, and help maintain patient flow with a focus on accuracy and compassionate patient care.

Qualified candidates include Certified Ophthalmic Assistants or Technicians, with COA/OSC/COT preferred or the ability to obtain certification within one year.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• COA/OSC/COT certifications preferred or ability to obtain within one year.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to other offices occasionally.
• Must be able to walk/stand for eight hours.
• Experience with ophthalmology billing/coding and NextGen or similar EHR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and establish rapport with patients.
• Document chief complaint, history, ROS, and ocular findings accurately.
• Document visits and procedures in real-time.
• Communicate follow-up care, surgeries, and schedules to patients.
• Maintain ophthalmic equipment and inventory.
• Apply correct ICD-10 and CPT codes.
• Navigate NextGen or applicable EHR effectively.
• Process prescription refills with documentation.
