Job summary

The Mankato Clinic on the Wickersham Health Campus is seeking a part-time Ophthalmic Assistant capable of engaging with patients and gathering essential information for the ophthalmologist. You will perform diagnostic tests and serve as a scribe during exams, with opportunities to pursue JCAHPO certification within the first year.

Ideal candidates show a desire to learn, strong communication, and teamwork with physicians and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Dedication to patient satisfaction.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to work cooperatively with physicians and other staff members.
• Must obtain CPR certificate within 30 days of employment.
• Completion of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Home Study Course with Certification through JCAHPO as an Ophthalmic Assistant expected within 1 year of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Engages with patients, seeks to understand patient needs, and gathers information for the ophthalmologist.
• Performs visual function and diagnostic tests as directed by the ophthalmologist/optometrist.
• Acts as a scribe during the provider's exam.
