Job summary

Savant Senior Living in Downey, CA is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant for a part-time role in our care teams. The COTA works under an OT, implementing standards of care and documenting patient progress to support independence and safety.

Responsibilities include evaluating functional status, maintaining records, coordinating with the care team, and educating patients and families under supervision.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an occupational therapy assistant curriculum accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
• Licensed as an occupational therapy assistant by the California Board of Occupational Therapy.
• Certified with the National Certification Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
• A minimum of one year of clinical experience as a COTA.
• Demonstrates good verbal and written communication, and organizational skills.
• Possesses and maintains current CPR certification.
• Licensed driver with automobile that is in good working order and insured.

Responsibilities

• Participates in ongoing evaluation of patient’s functional status as delegated by the registered OT.
• Maintains appropriate clinical records and reports changes to the OT.
• Submits clinical documentation per Organization policy.
• Follows treatment program and documents patient response and progress.
• Maintains communication with other care personnel to coordinate care.
• Attends inservices, case conferences and meetings as required.
• Identifies patient/family needs for other home care services and assists with referrals.
• Instructs patient family/caregiver and other health care personnel in treatment regime.
