Location: Reno, Sparks, Carson, Fernley.

Earn while you travel! We’re looking for a Part-Time Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) to provide in-home patient care—and yes, we pay you for drive time!

Generous Mileage Reimbursement – Receive $0.60 per mile between patients as part of our excellent reimbursement program!

Your Role & Responsibilities:
  • Provides OTA services under the supervision of the OT.
  • Follows an established POC for each patient.
  • With the OT, assists in the eval and implementation of the rehab program for the patient.
  • Performs ongoing safety checks and environmental assessments during scheduled visits.
  • Effectively communicates with patients and family.
  • Participates in educating the patient and family.
  • Effectively communicates with their supervisor to problem solve as situations arise.
  • Communicates in the case conferencing sessions, as appropriate, to establish best practices for the individual patient’s needs.
  • Submits accurate, complete paperwork for each visit so that all medical records are intact and up to date.
  • Participates in the QA Committee process as appropriate.
  • Participates in the monthly staff meetings and in-service programs.
  • Maintains professional licensure and actively seeks out educational experiences to enhance the practice of home care occupational therapy for her/himself and the benefit of the patients serviced.
  • Notifies the Agency/Supervisor of emergencies, sickness, and other imminent occurrences that may affect the patient caseload as quickly as possible relative to the event’s occurrence.
  • Submits written time requests 2 weeks or more in advance of planned time off.
  • Other duties as assigned.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT TO BE OPERATED
Office equipment- phone, computer, printer, copy machine
OT rehab assistive devices.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Indoors, performing computer/office duties- phone work
  • Travel to cases/meetings; will require transportation to get to various sites
FUNCTIONAL ABILITIES
  • Able to hear, speak, understand, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Must be able to travel to patient homes.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Daily: walking, standing, sitting, bending, reaching, using the telephone, use of computers & other office equipment, and climbing stairs.
  • Can lift, turn, and transfer patients weighing up to 150+ pounds.
  • Can carry bundles upstairs weighing up to 10 pounds.

What We’re Looking For:

Provides professional services within the scope of occupational therapy practice standards in collaboration with primary care physicians and other members of the health care team and teaches and educates patients and their families.
QUALIFICATIONS
️ Licensed Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) in the state of practice.
️ Graduate of an ACOTE-accredited OTA program (or equivalent international certification).
️ Eligible for or has successfully passed the NBCOT certification exam for OTAs.
️ Minimum 2 years of experience as an OTA (home health experience preferred).
️ Current CPR certification (required).
️ Ability to lift, turn, and transfer patients weighing up to 150+ lbs.
️ Strong communication and problem-solving skills to work effectively with patients and families.
️ Comfortable traveling to patient homes (reliable transportation required).

If educated outside the United States, on or after January 1, 2008—
Graduated after successful completion of an occupational therapy assistant education program that is accredited as substantially equivalent to occupational therapist assistant entry-level education in the United States by:

A) The Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
B) Its successor organizations.
C) The World Federation of Occupational Therapists.
D) By a credentialing body approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association; and
E) Completed the entry-level certification examination for occupational therapy assistants developed and administered by the National Board for Certification in
Occupational Therapy, Inc. (NBCOT).
