The University of Maine School of Nursing seeks clinical and laboratory adjunct instructors for Spring 2027. Positions involve teaching in clinical and/or laboratory settings in collaboration with Course Coordinators across assigned rotations at partner sites in Maine.

Adjunct instructors are paid per credit hour, commensurate with qualifications and PATFA contract terms. Responsibilities include aligning with course objectives, supervising students, and evaluating performance.

Competenze

• Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• Current RN license in the State of Maine.
• Experience in relevant patient care settings.
• Knowledge of subject matter in the area of expertise.

• Review and implement student learning objectives, course syllabus, evaluation and grading criteria.
• Instruct, supervise, and evaluate students; performance in the assigned clinical or laboratory setting.
• Demonstrate ability to deal effectively with sensitive student situations; communicate resolutions with faculty, students and clinical partners.
• Relates theory content to clinical practice; exemplifies professional behavior.
• Facilitate problem-solving and critical thinking/reasoning skills development in the student.
• Adhere to UMaine and/or agency policies and procedures through orientation and ongoing in-services.
• Ensure students adhere to standards and regulations of the School of Nursing and clinical agencies.
• Communicate with students and course coordinator regarding student progress.
• Promote cooperation and communication with students, faculty, and other team members.
• Consult with the course coordinator regarding significant student issues.
• Perform students’ midterm and final evaluations; submit written evaluation.
• Report to the course coordinator in case of illness or anticipated absence.
