UPMC Passavant is seeking a Part-Time Nursing Assistant to support the 5 Pavilion Orthopedic Unit. You will provide direct patient care under RN direction, assist with ADLs, vital signs, and basic patient comfort to ensure a high-quality experience for our patients.

Shifts include rotating schedules and straight night options, totaling 24 hours per week. The role emphasizes teamwork, patient safety, and compassionate care within a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Direct patient care under RN direction is required.
• ADLs and vital signs experience is helpful.
• Ability to follow infection control and safety protocols.

Responsabilités

• Provide direct patient care under RN direction, including ADLs, vital signs, telemetry, and specimen collection.
• Assist with daily patient and unit needs such as call lights, meals, transport, and activities.
• Maintain a safe, clean patient environment and report issues promptly.
• Monitor patients and document care and clerical duties.
• Support unit operations by distributing supplies and equipment.
• Communicate with patients, families, and healthcare team to coordinate care.
• Demonstrate professionalism, accept feedback, and seek growth opportunities.
• Respond to emergent situations and provide patient supervision or companionship as appropriate.

Position: Part-Time Nursing Assistant
Department: 5 Pavilion Orthopedic Unit
Location: UPMC Passavant
Shifts: 24 hours per week; rotating shifts AND straight night shifts available
Qualifications Title and rate of pay will be determined based upon individual qualifications, experience, and education. The minimum hourly starting rates for each level are as follows:

• Care Attendant: $18.19
• Nursing Assistant: $18.59
• Patient Care Technician: $18.99
• Patient Care Technician, Senior: $19.19

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under RN direction, including ADLs, vital signs, point-of-care testing, telemetry application, and specimen collection
• Assist with daily patient and unit needs (e.g., responding to call lights, meal delivery, patient transport, and basic activities)
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized patient environment, following infection control and safety protocols
• Monitor patients and report changes, concerns, or equipment malfunctions promptly
• Document care accurately and complete clerical duties as needed
• Support unit operations by obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to support coordinated care
• Demonstrate professionalism by building positive relationships, accepting feedback, and seeking opportunities for growth
• Respond to emergent situations and provide patient supervision or companionship as appropriate
