Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in nursing required.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• New hires must obtain a BSN within three years of hire or transfer.
• Licensure to practice nursing in Florida or eligibility for licensure.
• BLS certification required on first day of employment.
• ACLS required for certain units; PALS within six months for others.
• Professional certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct nursing care using the nursing process and established standards of practice.
• Performs all responsibilities associated with the staff nurse role.
• Functions as Charge Nurse when assigned.
• Maintains accountability for assigned patients.
• Delegates tasks to Technical Nurses, Patient Care Associates, and Sitters while retaining responsibility for patient care.
• Provides care appropriate to each patient’s age and developmental needs.
