As a Part-Time Night Custodian, you will ensure that facilities are kept clean, safe, and well-maintained.

Responsibilities

• Clean interior areas including hallways, restrooms, offices, classrooms, and multi-purpose rooms as assigned.
• Maintain the exterior of the school, including the perimeter, parking lot, playground, and windows.
• Empty trash receptacles throughout the campus.
• Dust furniture, window sills, air vents, and other surfaces as assigned.
• Clean and sterilize restroom facilities.
• Handle bodily messes such as vomit, feces, urine, and blood following proper training protocols.
• Assist with waste removal in the cafeteria during breakfast and lunch.
• Help clean cafeteria tables and maintain cafeteria floor cleanliness.
• Sterilize high-touch areas to reduce bacteria and harmful agents.
• Assist the Head Custodian with cleaning projects and tasks.
• Contribute to preventative maintenance processes and monitor systems to extend the lifespan of facility components.
• Travel to nearby schools or storage facilities as needed.
• Participate in training programs to improve skills and proficiency.
• Stay informed about current developments and best practices in janitorial work.
• Adhere to OSHA and safety procedures.
• Perform additional duties as delegated by the supervisor.
• Follow all applicable laws and company policies.
• The Director of Projects & Facilities will evaluate performance annually in collaboration with school administration and maintenance staff.
• Always carry a hand-held radio when on school property if assigned.
• Remain on school property during working hours, including lunch, unless authorized otherwise.
• Report and assist with emergency situations as needed.
• Do not leave campus for errands without permission from the Facilities Supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; ongoing education in construction or facilities management preferred.
• At least 1 year of janitorial or related experience.
• Necessary skills and knowledge as specified above.
• Ability to perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

• Typical office and school environment conditions.

Physical Demands

• Travel within or outside the state as required.
• Light physical effort, exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally and 10 pounds frequently.

This position is nonexempt and subject to the minimum wage and overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
